Amarillo, TX

We have made it to Amarillo, TX.  New state every day.  The landscape varies from high desert to rolling plains.  The cattle look well fed.  Rain has come through this area recently and I wish we could send some of it back home. Today we are headed to Oklahoma City.  It is a shorter drive, only 260 miles.  Fraser and I trade off driving each day so the time spent behind the wheel is divided between us.  Yesterday’s drive from Albuquerque was windy but the new hitch kept us steady even when the big trucks passed us.  We keep losing an hour the further East we go…..the clock in the truck changed when we hit the Texas border and it is disconcerting to look at it one minute and it says 12:15, then the next it says 1:15.  We have been this far twice before:  Fraser and I drove to Henrietta, TX, to pick up our stock trailer in 1988…made the round trip in 3 days!  The 2nd time the four of us drove to Gotebo, OK, to buy 4-H projects for the girls….sheep.  That was over 20 years ago.  We will be in new territory when we leave Oklahoma City.  Picture is eastern New Mexico…rolling plains.  Don’t you just love those clouds?
